v1.3.10 – Chapter 2 (Part 1)
In this update we have quite a few mechanics. One of them is a dark room scene where a flashlight is used. For some reasons, probably the transformations for highlighting interactibles/collectibles, the solution I currently use tends to flicker every now and then. I will see if I can find or code a different solution or just make the room a bit darker and less saturated instead of completely black.
New Quests
- Judy: Mirror Mirror On The Wall (feat. Cindy and Gemma)
- Cindy: Cockadoodle IV
- Sienna: Vibe Prize > Sun Spark
When Cockadoodle IV and Sun Spark are done:
- Sienna: Open Wide (feat. Cindy)
In my head Sun Spark is always “Sparkle” for some reason… Just wanted to mention it, in case I didn’t get all the typos.
Chapter 2 starts, when each character’s last quest of chapter one is finished. If you already finished with them, just loading the game, will start chapter 2. There will be a chapter update screen and the player will be put directly into Zach’s bedroom, starting a new day. This will automatically start “Mirror Mirror”. (Depending on tester feedback, I may place the character outside, so they can start the event manually or play Vibe Prize first.
Vibe Prize is mechanically the most complex part in this update. It has a “Skip minigame” button in the bottom right of the screen, to skip the “dark room and word puzle part”. Partly, the button is there, in case navigating through the flashlight scene is to much of a hazzle on mobile. Anyway, here’s how to get through this part of the game:
- The room is dark.
- If player doesn’t have the flashlight, Zach says something like “I have my flashlight in the car.” (passenger side)
- If the player has the flashlight. They can explore the room with help of the lit up room (light cone).
- Armor on the right > Gauntlet on the floor > Key in the gauntlet
- Key from the gauntlet > Chest on the left side of the room
- Wordle/Hangman puzzle.
- Drag’n’drop to solve for CLOTHES
- Last minigame
- Turn on by clicking the knob, not the LED cover.
- There are three stages, click the knob each time.
- The knob should be insensitive between animations
300+ renders, 20 animations
Chapter 1 — Final
Additional notes and summary:
The release version 1.2 introduces a new scene that should have played after “Gemma — Booty” and before “Gemma — Salacious”. If a player already progressed Gemma’s story up to “Gemma — Salacious” or further, the new scene will be triggered the next time MC visits their room. This might trigger the event immediately if the prerequisites are fullfilled and the player saved in MC’s room.
If the player is able to trigger “Gemma – The right medicine” before playing “Gemma – How to be a good girl”, there might be an issue with above triggers. In that case, please report the issue, so that we can have another look. It should be fixed, but reality is a cruel beast.
Generally, this issue does not break the game, but is inconsitent story telling for those two events, if played in the wrong order.
Now, even though we provide a quest progress tracker and just in case, the player should play until the questlog (“Notebook”) tells the player that there is no new content available. Some events are delayed and are not immediately available after having played the precursing event. Those are rare and the maximum delay should be one in-game night of rest. These “empty time slots” should get less and less, as we add content and repeatable events.
With the release of version 1.2.0 a new mechanic is introduced, that lets players chose the event they want to play, if the location has multiple events available at a given time. The player can also return to freeroam, which might trigger a priority event, that would start automatically otherwise.
Also, with version 1.2.0 another mechanic is introduced to start an event. For those, the player has to initiate a dialogue with Judy in MC’s room and pick the highlighted choice. The notebook should hint at those events by telling the player something along the lines “I should talk to Judy.” or “Judy might know more about this.”
